Prior to the match on September 25, 2021, Northern Colorado Volleyball retired the jersey (No. 5) of Erin Deffenbaugh. She will become just the second jersey retired in UNC athletics history.

Elected to the Northern Colorado Hall of Fame in 2010, Deffenbaugh is one of just nine players to reach the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs mark. She holds program career records for kills, attacks and is second in digs.

The 2002 Division II Player of the Year and 2004 All-American also holds on to UNC single-season records in kills with 743 and attacks with 1,736. In 2002, she led the nation in kills per set.

​A three-time North Central All-Conference Selection, Deffenbaugh was also named to the 2002 Elite Eight All-Tournament Team.
